Euromillions Lottery

European Lotto

The links at the bottom of the page aim to guide you through all areas of the Euromillions lottery.  You will therefore be able to gain a very good understanding of this pan-European, tax-free lottery prior to selecting your playing option.

The Euromillions lottery or Euro lottery, as it is often referred to, was launched on the 7th of February 2004 with the first lotto draw taking place the following week in Paris on Friday the 13th of February.

Initially, it was only the UK, France and Spain who participated in this European lotto but on the 8th of October 2004 a further six countries signed up giving a grand total of 9 participating nations.  These are:

• UK (The UK National Lottery)

• France (La Francaise des Jeux)

• Spain (Loterias y Apuestas del Estado)

• Austria (Austrian State Lottery)

• Belgium (Loterie Nationale de Belgique)

• Ireland (Irish Lotto)

• Luxembourg (Loterie Nationale of Luxembourg)

• Portugal (Portuguese Lottery - Campiao)

• Switzerland (Swiss Lotto)

The Euromillions lottery offers a substantial starting jackpot of £11 million (€15 million).  This is possible because the prize fund is made up from a percentage of Euro Millions ticket sales from all the nine member countries.

The expansion of the European Union over recent years will inevitably lead to a greater number of countries signing up to the Euromillions lottery draw.  This will clearly lead to greater ticket sales which in turn will result in a more substantial prize fund and even greater jackpots.

If the winning Euromillions lottery jackpot numbers are not matched in a given week, the prize rolls over to the following week giving rise to even greater jackpots.  These rollovers are common place with jackpots regularly exceeding the £11 million (€15 millions) starting level.  On the 3rd of February 2006, after rolling over 11 times, the European lotto jackpot of over £125 million (€170 million) was shared between three individual lottery ticket holders, making it Europe’s largest ever lottery win.

Below you will find links to more specific areas of the Euromillions lottery.  I trust that you will find everything here that you are looking for.

Wishing you the very best of luck in the next Euromillions lottery draw!
