Euromilhoes
The
Euromilhoes was originally devised by the national lotteries of France,
Spain and the UK and was unveiled in early February 2004. The initial draw was
on Friday the 13th of February 2004 in Paris. The UK, France and Spain were the
only nations taking part initially but lotteries from Austria, Belgium, the
Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland also became involved
in October 2004.
The Euromilhoes or the Euro Milhoes, as it is commonly known, pools the
ticket revenues of the nine participating European countries resulting in a
mammoth Euromilhoes jackpot. With the number of countries joining the European
Union increasing, this will without a doubt lead to new countries signing up to
the Euro Milhoes lottery. A growth in the amount of people playing the Euro
Milhoes lottery will lead to a further growth of the already considerable
Euromilhoes jackpots.
How To Play The Euromilhoes Lotto
Every participant chooses 5 main numbers from 1 to 50 and 2
“Lucky Star” numbers from 1 to 9. During the draw, 5 main and 2 lucky star
numbers are then selected at random from two draw machines containing numbered
balls.
Euromilhoes Prizes
The odds of winning the top Euromilhoes prize is a distant 1 in 76 million but
the odds of winning any prize is a fairly decent 1 in 24. If nobody wins the
jackpot in a certain week, it rolls over to the next week which leads to an ever
increasing Euromilhoes prize fund. New rules brought in on the 4th of January
2007 and became law on the 9th of February 2007 restrict the amount of
consecutive “rollovers” to eleven, with the jackpot rolling down to lower prize
levels in the eleventh draw if the prize is not won.
The new rules also introduced Euromilhoes "Super Draws" which take place
twice every year and present jackpots in the region of £100 million. The
difference with “Super Draws” is that the jackpot must be won the night of the
draw; as a result, if no ticket matches all the drawn numbers then the jackpot
will be paid out to the next tier in the prize structure.
A Selection Of The Top Euromilhoes Wins
• On 8 February 2008, the “Super Draw” jackpot of €130 million was collected by
16 people who matched the 5 main numbers and 1 “Lucky Star” number.
• On 10 August 2007, a forty year old former Royal Mail postal officer from
Scotland won a Euromilhoes jackpot of €52.6 million. To date, this is the
biggest lotto win ever in the United Kingdom.
• On 17 November 2006, having rolled over eleven times, the Euro lottery jackpot
reached €183 million and was split between 20 lucky ticket holders.
Different Playing Methods
Typically, to partake in the Euromilhoes lotto you would have to be a resident
of one of the nine participating member states. However, with the launch of
lottery ticket sales agents you can now acquire your requisite amount of Euro
Milhoes tickets online regardless of where you reside globally. If you are
seeking a boost in your odds of winning the Euromilhoes, you may also think
about joining one of e-Lottery’s Euromilhoes syndicates. As a participant
in a Euro syndicate you receive a 36 times greater prospect of obtaining the
jackpot when compared to all those people purchasing tickets in the normal
manner. With e-Lottery there are very few geographic obstacles to becoming a
member and as a result the existing membership consists of persons from no fewer
